CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Tonight

Clouds will quickly build in overnight across the Carolinas with increasing moisture, too. This is a sign of more clouds to come this week and upcoming rain chances! Lows will only fall to the mid 40s across the Charlotte region and even the low 40s for the mountains.

Partial Eclipse Day (Monday)

Expect clouds mixing in with sunshine throughout the day. There will be more clouds along and northwest of Charlotte with the vest view of the eclipse south and east of the city. Highs will reach the mid 70s.

Our local timeline for the partial eclipse:

  • Partial eclipse begins at 1:54:07 p.m.
  • Maximum eclipse occurs at 3:11:56 p.m. (Our coverage is 80.2%! Remember, we are not in totality.)
  • Partial eclipse ends at 4:26:30 p.m.

Clouds will get thicker through the afternoon and right now, there is a slight chance for rain for the mountains. More clouds and better rain chances build in overnight heading into Tuesday.

Rest of the Week

  • Tuesday has a better chance for rain (compared to Monday) with highs in the low 70s.
  • Wednesday morning starts off wet but a dry afternoon will allow highs to jump into the mid to upper 70s! This will be the warmest day of the week.
  • More rain moves in Wednesday night ahead of our next significant storm system.
  • Thursday looks to be the wettest day of the week and brings in a chance for strong storms. This will also bring in a localized flooding risk across the Carolinas, especially for the mountains.
  • Scattered rain sticks around early Friday with an overall “cooler” afternoon. Highs will only reach 70 degrees with a few spots only in the upper 60s.
  • It’ll be dry and mostly sunny next weekend with highs in the mid-upper 70s Saturday and low 80s Sunday.
