CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Tonight
Charlotte saw a high temperature around 65 degrees Saturday afternoon with winds between 10 – 15 mph. Winds will drop even more overnight allowing for more widespread frost potential. A few spots outside of the metro will even drop to near freezing.
It’s imperative to cover up plants and other sensitive vegetation tonight with these colder lows. Most areas will drop to 37 degrees or below. Make sure outdoor pets are brought inside, too!
Sunday
Sunday morning will begin with areas of widespread frost and low temperatures in the mid 30s. Abundant sunshine, dry air and light winds will allow for a quick warm up! Highs will peak near 70 degrees.
Clouds will quickly build in overnight across the Carolinas with increasing moisture, too. This is a sign of more clouds, more rain and warmer temperatures throughout the work week.
Partial Eclipse Day (Monday)
Lows will drop to the mid 40s Monday morning due to more cloud cover and more humid air. Expect clouds mixing in with sunshine throughout the day and even isolated showers. Highs will reach the mid 70s across the Charlotte area.
Our local timeline for the partial eclipse:
- Partial eclipse begins at 1:54:07 p.m.
- Maximum eclipse occurs at 3:11:56 p.m. (Our coverage is 80.2%! Remember, we are not in totality.)
- Partial eclipse ends at 4:26:30 p.m.
Rest of the Week
Highs will reach the mid 70s most of the week with better chances for rain. The rainiest and stormiest day of the week looks to be Thursday with a few strong storms possible and a moderate risk for localized flooding.
Most of the rain looks to wrap up by Friday night and clearing us out just in time for the weekend!
