Man sentenced to over 500 years in prison for sexually assaulting children

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — A Sacramento County judge sentenced a man Friday to over 500 years in state prison for sexually assaulting children.
Back in October 2023, a jury convicted Torres of five counts of committing lewd acts on a child under the age of 14 with force or fear and 19 counts of committing lewd acts on a child under 14 years old.
The abuse stopped when “a babysitter overheard one of the child victims talking about sexual conduct with Torres,” according to the DA’s office.
Torres was arrested in 2020 after an investigation by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and the Citrus Heights Police Department.
The DA’s office says he will become eligible for release at an Elder Parole hearing once he reaches the age of 50 and serves 20 years of his 580-year sentence.
