In October 2023, Kathy Kraninger was brought on as president and CEO of the Florida Bankers Association, making her the fourth executive to hold the title since the FBA’s founding in 1888. One of Florida’s oldest trade associations, the FBA advocates on behalf of banks and promotes the banking industry in the state.
Ms. Kraninger aims to advance the association’s mission of supporting each of its members, from the smallest community bank in the state to the largest national bank in the country, through resources and advocacy efforts to maximize their ability to compete, serve customers and contribute to the economic well-being of Florida.
Previously, Ms. Kraninger worked in the federal government for over two decades. She has extensive experience in public service, having worked in Washington during four administrations. She has held leadership roles in the Department of Homeland Security and Office of Management and Budget, as well as serving as the director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau during the Trump administration from 2018 until her resignation in 2021.
Later that year in July as the cryptocurrency world was booming, Solidus Labs, a New York-based firm that creates crypto trade surveillance and transaction monitoring, appointed Ms. Kraninger to lead its regulatory efforts as vice president of regulatory affairs. In March 2023, Ms. Kraninger joined Plural VC, a venture community of regulatory experts, operators, and investors.
During her time with the FBA, Ms. Kraninger hopes to mentor and support others and help her team and association’s members reach their goals and provide opportunities for them to grow.
Ms. Kraninger spoke with Miami Today reporter Genevieve Bowen.
