(FOX40.COM) — A person is in critical condition after they were hit by a car in south Sacramento near Fruitridge Road on Friday evening, according to the Sacramento Fire Department.

Sacramento Fire said another person was taken to the hospital, but the extent of their injuries is currently unknown. The agency added that it is unknown if the second person was a pedestrian or inside the vehicle involved in the crash.

Around 7:45 p.m. on Friday, Sacramento Fire said its crews were called to the 6000 block of Sampson Boulevard for reports of a crash. When they arrived at the scene, they found a person who had been hit by a car and immediately took them to the hospital.

Later in the evening, around 8:45 p.m., the agency said a second person was taken to the hospital.
