Fire breaks out at high school in Pleasanton

(KRON) — Crews are responding to a fire Sunday night at Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton, the Alameda County Fire Department confirmed. The fire started around 8 p.m.

The fire burned inside a gym on campus, according to Pleasant Unified School District (PUSD) Director of Communications Patrick Gannon. The building where the gym is located is about 100 years old.

Gannon was at the high school as crews were responding to the blaze. “Unfortunately, these things do happen,” he said.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Gannon said families will be notified on how this fire may affect school on Monday.

Amador Valley High School is located at 1155 Santa Rita Road. No other information was immediately available.
