HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – We’re just days away from the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade and the city is getting ready for the thousands of visitors expected to attend.
The annual St. Patrick’s breakfast hosted by the Holyoke Chamber of Commerce was held Wednesday morning, a tell-tale sign that the parade is just about here!
Other parade preparations include the shamrocks painted along the parade route, which begins on Northampton Street and heads toward Beech Street, continues to Appleton and High Street, and finishes on Hampden Street.
22News spoke with Chamber of Commerce executive director Jordan Hart about the importance of the parade and all the events that lead up to it, “They call this the high holy week of Holyoke and it’s for a reason. Especially for our small businesses they benefit greatly from all the people, visitors coming in. It’s really important that we support our Holyoke businesses this season because they rely on this weekend for a lot of their yearly income.”
Ahead of parade day is the annual St. Patrick’s Day road race which is taking place Saturday, March 16th from 1-6 P.M.
The parade takes place this Sunday, March 17th at noon and you can watch it on 22News!
