CHARLOTTE, N.C.– As of noon today, sports betting is officially legal in North Carolina. Bet Carolina is expecting 6.5 billion dollars in bets this year across the state and many locals are already putting their money on the line. WCCB Charlotte’s Lauren McDonald talked to people in uptown to see who and what they’re betting on. Governor Roy Cooper got in the mix, placing a futures bet on the Carolina Hurricanes to win the Stanley Cup. Governor Cooper is also reminding the public to bet responsibly.
