1 dead, 2 injured in shooting near Bush’s Pasture Park in Salem

SALEM, Ore. — One person was killed and two others injured in a shooting near Bush’s Pasture Park on Thursday afternoon in Salem, police said.

At around 1:45 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a reported shooting in the area of High Street Southeast and Leffelle Street Southeast, near the southwest corner of the park, after receiving a report of a shooting. They found three male victims who’d been shot. One was dead, the Salem Police Department reported.

The other two victims, both teenagers, were taken to Salem Health, police said. Police did not report the age of the victim who died or the current medical condition of the teenagers who were shot.

South Salem High School went into lockdown. The lockdown was lifted by late Thursday afternoon. Police asked people to be aware of potential road closures during the investigation and for students to avoid Bush’s Pasture Park. 

All after-school and evening activities, events and practices at South Salem High were canceled, according to Salem-Keizer Public Schools.
