Antron Belk is accused of shooting a man riding a scooter multiple times on Feb. 25, 2023.

WASHINGTON — A 19-year-old was indicted Thursday on charges connected to a shooting that wounded a man riding a scooter in Northeast D.C. last year.

According to the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, Antron Belk is accused of shooting a man riding a scooter multiple times on February 25, 2023.

An eight-count indictment charges Belk with one count of assault with intent to kill while armed, one count of assault with intent to murder while armed, one count of aggravated assault while armed, three counts of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, one count of unauthorized use of a vehicle during a crime of violence, and one count of carrying a pistol without a license.

Investigators allege Belk was driving a stolen Kia Optima with two other passengers when he pulled up next to the victim on Quarles Street, NE. Belk reportedly got out of the vehicle and shot the victim, who was riding a scooter and shot him multiple times before driving away.

Surveillance cameras captured Belk’s movements following the shooting, including his arrival at a residential building and he was later arrested.

While investigating, police say they found 30 shell casings at the scene of the shooting. The victim survived the shooting but was shot at least eight times, including twice in the face.
