(KRON) – Heavy rain is coming to the Bay Area. According to the National Weather Service, two systems of rain will begin this weekend.
The NWS said light rain in the North Bay will begin late Friday. Saturday, the first system is forecasted to have a moderate impact.
The second system is predicted to begin Sunday through Monday. The second system is forecasted to bring rain, wind, and potential thunderstorms. The NWS said this storm has a greater risk for urban and small stream flooding and shallow landslides due to saturated soil. River flooding may be possible next week, depending on the amount of rain.
For Sunday, wind gusts are predicted to “most likely” be 30-45 mph but may be higher.
For Tuesday, the NWS forecasted lingering rain and possible river flooding with winds forecasted to be up to 45 mph.
The North Bay and coastal ranges are forecasted to have 1-3 inches of rain. Cloverdale, Santa Rosa, and Napa are forecasted to have the highest amount of rainfall. The rest of the Bay is forecasted to have 0.2 to 1 inch of rainfall.
For your safety, be mindful of ponding water of roadways, rises in creek streams and rivers, minor to moderate urban and small steam flooding, hazardous surf, and shallow landslides.
