Chicago mother, daughter killed while walking back from Drake, J. Cole concert in St. Louis

CHICAGO — A Chicago woman and her daughter died Tuesday after being struck and killed while walking to their car after attending the Drake and J. Cole concert in St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to reports of a car crash near the intersection of Olive Street and 18th Street around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

Further investigation showed that a 22-year-old driving a Jeep Cherokee, who reportedly ran a series of red lights, side-swiped another vehicle traveling north on 18th Street before colliding with two women walking through a crosswalk.

The two women were later identified as 21-year-old Alyssa Cordova and 42-year-old Laticha Bracero. The mother-daughter pair were visiting from Chicago.

Nexstar’s KTVI-TV reports that Bracero and Cordova were walking back to their car after attending the Drake and J. Cole concert at the Enterprise Center. They both reportedly were walking through a crosswalk with the right away when the 22-year-old driver ultimately collided with Bracero and Cordova.

Bracero was pronounced dead at the scene. Cordova was transported to a local hospital where she later died.

Four others, including the driver, were injured in this incident.

No further information has been provided at this time.
