Super Sunday for Oak Ridge High School cheerleading team’s national championship

Hours before the Super Bowl kicked off Sunday, Oak Ridge High School of El Dorado Hills captured a coveted trophy of its own.The school’s cheerleading squad won the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championships in their division.The competition was held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando.”Led by coaches James Blunk and Kat Martin, the team competed against 50+ teams from all over the nation in the D1 Medium Varsity division and took first place,” read an email from Grace Cha to KCRA 3.Another parent told KCRA 3 that this accomplishment was even more noteworthy because two weeks ago the team suffered an injury and had to adjust and learn a new routine in the shortened time frame.The team’s victory flight back to California is set to arrive back in Sacramento on Monday evening.
