LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. — Indiana State Police detectives are investigating a fatal crash involving a LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office vehicle Thursday morning.

Few details about the crash have been released.

Skycam 9 was over the scene around 6:45 a.m.

Indiana State Police said they were asked by Sheriff Ron Heeg to investigate, one person died in the crash and it involved a sheriff’s office car.

It’s not clear if a deputy was involved in the crash.

ISP said the identity of the person who died will be released Friday.

Additional details about the crash and what led to the crash may also be released by the sheriff’s office and state police once all witnesses have been interviewed and the investigation is over, ISP Sgt. Glenn Fifield said in a news release.
