Citi Dividend Card

The Citi Dividend Card is a no-annual-fee credit card that offers 5% cash back rewards on purchases in rotating categories. The Citi Dividend Card is not currently available for new cardmembers. Unlike other credit cards with rotating categories such as Chase Freedom Flex and Discover It, which typically have a quarterly cap on rewards, the Citi Dividend has an annual rewards cap. The card also earns 1% back on all other purchases.

How the 5% Categories Work

The Citi Dividend card offers 5% cash back rewards in rotating categories. These categories will change every three months.

You must enroll in the bonus category offer prior to making purchases. The bonus earning starts within two business days of when you enroll, or in the beginning of the quarter, whichever is later. Purchases made prior to when your enrollment is processed will only earn 1% rewards. The card also earns 1% cash rewards on all other purchases.

Every calendar year, you’re limited to $300 in total cash back. That includes earnings from 5% bonus categories, as well as the 1% back you get from other purchases. So once you earn $300 back in total, no matter if it’s from a 5% category or other 1% categories, you are done for the year.

What Does Each Category Include?

  • Amazon: All purchases directly from Amazon.com.
  • Select Streaming Services: Includes the following cable, satellite, and streaming providers: Amazon Prime Video, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Disney+, DirecTV Stream, ESPN+, fuboTV, HBO Max, NBA League Pass, Netflix, Pandora, Paramount+, Showtime, Sling TV, Spotify, Starz, SiriusXM, Vudu, YouTube Red, YouTube TV, and Tidal.
  • Walmart:  Includes all Walmart stores, Walmart.com, and Walmart-branded gas stations.

Guru’s Wrap-Up

The total cash back you can earn with the card is $300 per calendar year. So you’ll get 5% on up to $6,000 spend for the whole year, and you can maximize it all within one quarter if you prefer.
