2 hospitalized after 10-car Thanksgiving Day pileup on Maryland highway

Two people were hospitalized and Thanksgiving travel was briefly disrupted after a 10-car pileup on a Maryland highway on Thursday afternoon.

The crash occurred after 1 p.m. on I-95 between Joppatowne and Edgewood, Harford County Fire and EMS said.

Ten vehicles were involved, including a tractor trailer.

Two people were hospitalized and at least 20 were checked for injuries at the scene. The Maryland State Police said there were no fatalities. The conditions of the hospitalized persons were not released.

Photos taken of the aftermath showed a sedan with significant side-impact damage and other vehicles loaded onto a tractor trailer with a car carrier.

The crash blocked several lanes of traffic. Several hours later all of the southbound lanes were open while only one northbound lane was open, the Maryland Department of Transportation said.
