Hey besties, we gotta chat ASAP! I love wearing a fun and sexy Halloween costume, buuuut as someone who lives where it can snow on Halloween — finding creative ways to stay warm and show off my costume can be hard.
So as your resident cold-weather-friend, I’m sharing my best tips for staying warm in your sexy Halloween costume. I’ve got some hacks up my sleeve to make this Halloween your most cozy one yet!
Okay, I realize that this cape is not originally intended for Halloween, but it beautifully illustrates my goal here: You can stay warmer on Halloween by opting for a sexy costume that includes a plus size CAPE! Most regular capes will be too small, so opt for a sexy costume that comes with a cape.
I actually learned from the one and only Taylor Swift! Taylor is known for layering the Capezio “Ultra Shimmery” tights for her tour, and I think this idea is STELLAR for plus size babes who need a bit of layering underneath their fishnet or short costume!
Unfortunately, Capezio only goes up to an XL (bummer!), so I found these tights instead that go up to an 8X.
Listen, I love fun and sexy heels as much as the next gal, buuuuut here me out: If you’re in a cold climate for Halloween, knee-high boots are really a must! I’ll bet these boots from Eloquii will look FABULOUS with your costume!

Wear a Wig
I learned this plus size Halloween tip the hard way. One year, I decided to be Cruella De Vil– wig and all. Except when I went to a Halloween event at a club, I was NOT prepared for how hot my head would be.
If you’re trying to stay warm on Halloween, then a costume with a wig (like this plus size Jessica Rabbit costume) is a great move!
A Thermos is a must for Halloween. I like to go for apple cider or hot chocolate. The thermos contents can keep your insides a bit more warm, and ALSO act as a hand warmer. I loved the design of this thermos from Target!
Of course, no list on how to stay warm for Halloween would be complete without Hand Warmers! Be sure to read the directions on these!
OK, SO! I have found that most evening gowns don’t fit my arms, and plus size evening gowns are pretty… rare. BUT, I think they’re such a smart idea for a Halloween costume, as gloves are sexy! I snagged this pair of gloves that can be CUSTOMIZED for your measurements, how cool is that??!!?
