A body was discovered in a strip of warehouses when Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were summoned to do a welfare check on someone, officials say.

The 911 call came around 6 a.m. Sunday, sending officers to the 700 block of Lawton Road, CMPD said in a Feb. 15 news release.

“Upon arrival, officers discovered one victim who had sustained apparent trauma. MEDIC pronounced the victim deceased on scene,” CMPD said.

The identity of the person and a cause of death have not been released.

Lawton Road is off Brookshire Boulevard in northeast Charlotte, and is lined with warehouses and tractor-trailer parking lots, maps show.
