Evacuation orders and warnings are in place as the 6-5 Fire burns in Tuolumne County.

TUOLUMNE COUNTY, Calif. — A wildfire has prompted evacuation orders and warnings in Tuolumne County. 

The 6-5 Fire, near the community of Chinese Camp, sparked at 10:34 a.m. and has grown to 2,956 acres, according to Cal Fire. 

The 6-5 Fire is one of 9 fires that are part of the September Lightning Complex fires

According to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, evacuation orders were put in place for the areas of Six Bit Ranch Road, Six Bit Gulch Road, East Side of Red Hill Road from to J59 to Hwy 12, J59 to Old Don Pedro Road-Chinese Camp Town from Highway 120 and East of Red Hills Road (including Main Street, Curry Street, Yosemite Street, Washington Street, Solinsky Alley and Maiden Ln.), Don Pedro Dam Road, Old Don Pedro Dam Road-Menkee Hess Road, South side of Highway 120 from Chinese Camp to the Highway 120 Bridge.

Evacuation Warnings were issued at Shawmut Road, Rojo, Chinese Camp Town North of Highway 120 including Main Street and Washington Street.

WILDFIRE PREPS

If you live in a wildfire-prone zone, Cal Fire suggests creating a defensible space around your home. Defensible space is an area around a building in which vegetation and other debris are completely cleared. At least 100 feet is recommended.
