A 55-year-old Modesto man died in a head-on crash on Albers Road early Thursday. 23-year-old Alberto Ochoaaguilar was hospitalized with major injuries.
MODESTO, Calif — A 55-year-old Modesto man died early Thursday morning following a head-on crash on Albers Road, south of Dusty Lane, California Highway Patrol said.
Around 3:30 a.m., CHP officers responded to the crash involving a 2016 Chrysler sedan and a 1999 Nissan pickup.
The driver of the Chrysler, 23-year-old Alberto Ochoaaguilar of Winton, suffered major injuries and was taken to Oak Valley Hospital. The driver of the Nissan died at the scene.
Preliminary CHP investigations indicate Ochoaaguilar was traveling southbound when he turned into the northbound lane directly in front of the Nissan, causing a head-on collision.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. CHP has not determined whether drugs or alcohol were factors.
Albers Road was temporarily closed, and traffic was diverted with minimal delays. The investigation is ongoing.
