The skincare industry has exploded in recent years. There has been a 13% growth in the sales of skincare in recent years. One of the products to get some light recently has been skin oils. Once thought as something potentially harmful to the skin oils has had the best facelift in the game! Oils, specifically natural plant based skincare oil can potentially be the superpower skincare product your skin is missing.

What is Natural Plant Based Skincare Oil?

According to Green city beauty, plant based skincare products are made from ingredients that are derived from plants such as fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, seeds, nuts, and herbs. Natural Plant based skincare oil and other products do not necessarily mean it’s cruelty-free or even vegan.

As explained in my ‘What does Going Plant Based Mean? ‘ article, plant based means the majority of diet or in this case ingredients are derived from plants not that it’s all from plants. Plant based can still contain eggs, dairy, and ingredients that come from animals. When it comes to cruelty-free, a safe bet is if it’s sold in China then more than likely it’s been tested on animals since they have a mandatory law that requires animal testing on the majority of the cosmetics sold there. If cruelty-free and vegan products are important to you look past the natural, plant based skincare label and do your research.

Benefits Of Using Natural Plant Based Skincare Oil

When it comes to natural plant based skincare oil it can vary from person to person. However, it has been proven to have some similar benefits for most people. Using a natural plant based skincare oil twice a day prior to using your moisturizer, oils can help your skin:

-Stimulating collagen production to help prevent wrinkles

-Create a barrier between the skin and free radicals

-Evening out the skin tone and correcting discoloration

-Creating a dewy appearance

-Helps moisten and soften the skin

Do Natural Plant Based Oil Work With Acne?

The majority of derms agree that facial oils can help the skin with a breakout as long as you use the correct oil for your skin and avoid heavy products. I know with many people who suffer from acne, myself included, we want to strip the skin of any oil and stop the creation. That is not the way to go! According to the insider(and any acne suffer), too much dryness can cause irritation and could make acne worse.

When your skin working on rehydrating the skin it overproduces oil that can clog up pores and produce more breakouts. If you add moisture to the skin you’re telling it to chill out and that it doesn’t need to create so much. Oil isn’t a bad thing when it comes to skincare it’s an important part of the skincare pyramid, and that’s why it’s the largest part! When you cut it out it throws everything all off, so don’t listen when they say dry out the skin.

Pay attention to when your breakouts happen. For example, I break out when I drink flavored water and soda, so I don’t drink them. I also have hormonal breakouts so I make sure I schedule my treatments around that time. Being consistent with your skincare, not constantly switching products, and having your staples can keep your breakouts at bay and your skin in healthy condition so even if you do have the breakouts it won’t be as bad. Like many things it’s all trial and error, try new things with a gentle formula, that also helped me, when I used to use harsh products but going to more natural plant based/ vegan products helped me immensely. Strong isn’t always better.
