SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Western New England University Alum and 22News reporter Kayleigh Thomas returned to her alma mater to speak with aspiring journalists about her journey to becoming a television reporter.
Thomas, a 2021 graduate of Western New England University, was actively involved in on-campus media during her time as a student, serving as news editor for The Westerner and editor-in-chief of the yearbook.
“One day, I remember sitting down in a break room with my laptop, and I was like, ‘You know what? It is time to chase after my bigger dream. So that’s when I dared to apply to some local TV stations,” Thomas shared during her talk.
Thomas hopes her story will inspire others to pursue their dreams in journalism.
Her visit to the university provided students with an opportunity to learn from her experiences and gain insights into the television industry.
Western New England University’s communications program offers various opportunities for students interested in media and journalism.
