Spring Teacher Outfits

At the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, we had so many requests from YOU for teacher outfits. We shared twenty outfit ideas in this post but decided it was time for a spring refresh. Even though the items in the previous post are year-round basics, sometimes it’s fun and exciting to add a few news pieces to breathe a little life into your wardrobe during this time of year. Below, you’ll find 20 spring teacher outfits that are comfortable, budget-friendly, and stylish! Even if you’re not a teacher, these workwear looks could be perfect for your office dress code too. You’ll notice that we even used some of the same items we featured in the last post so you can continue to see their versatility and how to style them for spring…

Make sure you check out our last teacher outfits post here after you’re done with this one!

What To Wear to a Conference

Affordable Brands for Teacher Clothes

We shared this list in the last teacher outfit post as well, but it’s worth sharing again just in case you missed it! NOTE: Team Busbee tries to stay away from fast fashion and focuses on sustainability, but we know that’s not always completely doable on a teacher’s salary. We’re sharing a few retailers that we wouldn’t normally promote because of the fast fashion aspect, but that are wonderful options for budget-friendly workwear pieces and worth sharing.

  • Loft gives teachers 15% off and has great workwear pieces!
  • Madewell also gives teachers 15% off. Their pieces range from workwear to weekend basics every teacher (and woman) loves.
  • Banana Republic gives teachers 15% off with their Teacher ID but they always have great sales all the time so look for the sales and take advantage of your teacher discount.
  • J. Crew also gives teachers 15% off with their Teacher ID and has great sales to take advantage of.
  • Express is a great place to grab some dressier pieces, must-have dress pants, cute tops & sweaters, etc. They usually have a sale so you can snag some chic pieces at a major discount too.
  • Target is a store that really needs no explanation. Different locations are hit or miss with clothing so consider shopping online and taking advantage of their free shipping on orders over $35…we all know it’s not hard to spend $35 at Target 😉
  • Gap has really had a resurgence over the past year and whether you love classic basics or something a little trendy, you can find it at Gap. Plus, they have sizing from 23 to 35 in regular, 27 to 33 in tall, and 24 to 30 in petite.
  • H&M has really affordable pieces that are stylish and trendy. But you can also get some wonderful basics!

Spring Teacher Outfit Ideas

#1) Tailored Neutral Pants

In these four looks, we’ve featured a pair of tan pants from Loft. They are a tapered leg, super soft and drapey, and are a pull-on style with an elastic waistband. The neutral tan color is really nice, but they also come in three other colors that would be wonderful additions to a work wardrobe. AND…they’re machine washable! These are the kind of basic tan pants you can style with pretty much anything from sweaters to blouses to button-downs. These pants also come in regular (27” inseam), tall (30” inseam), and petite (24.5” inseam) lengths.

Look #1: We love a pretty printed blouse, and this one is perfect for spring. Something we considered with all of these picks was the necklines and whether they were classroom-appropriate. This top’s v-neckline is flattering but not too low. Throw on a pair of classic beige mules and a leather jacket for a simple, cool spring look.

Look #2: In this look, you could layer the ribbed sweater over the white button-down and leave them untucked for a cool, on-trend look. OR you could wear the white button-down open over the sweater as a 3rd layer. The shoes are a pair of pointed-toe slingbacks with on-trend, springy raffia pointed-toe.

Look #3: A classic striped tee or tank and black blazer are a must-have in any teacher’s wardrobe. Throw on a pair of loafers for a look that’s the perfect mix of casual, polished, and sophisticated.

Look #4: This look is a more casual option but still very stylish and chic. We paired the ribbed Madewell tee with the pants and threw on a denim jacket. The pointed-toe mules are stylish and comfortable…perfect work shoes!

#2) Neutral Midi Skirt

Having a neutral skirt in your work wardrobe is a must! In our last teacher outfit post, we shared how to style a black midi skirt. But for spring, a light neutral-colored skirt can help brighten up your wardrobe. Whether that’s an A-line skirt, pencil skirt, maxi skirt, etc., having some sort of work-appropriate neutral skirt makes it easier to get dressed each week. This beige pleated skirt from J. Crew is a midi length and pull-on style. The pleating and elastic waistband make it an ultra-comfy elevated basic. It comes in five other colors too. Plus, it’s machine washable!

Look #1: We styled the skirt with a black sheer-sleeve top that’s a beautiful basic-with-a-twist. To add some polish and sophistication, throw on a blazer.

Look #2: For this look, we paired the skirt with a cropped cardigan from Quince that can be worn buttoned up as a top or unbuttoned with something underneath. It’s 100% cotton so it’s lightweight and breathable!

Look #3: This look is more casual and playful. We love the ruffle sleeve details on the white top. You can wear it on its own or layer it under a denim jacket. Add the trendy slingbacks and you’re ready to go!

Look #4: A chambray shirt is another spring wardrobe essential. This one is lightweight, has short sleeves, and it’s thin enough to easily front tuck into the skirt. Style it with white sneakers to keep it casual or pair it with any of the other shoe options to elevate it.

#3) Classic Spring Dress

Another teacher outfit must-have is…an easy breezy dress (or a few). This cute mini dress from J. Crew is perfect for dressing up or down. You can wear it with or without the belt or even add your own belt! It’s super lightweight and breathable, has a flattering rounded hem, sleeves to cover the shoulders, comes in five neutral colors, and the longer length is perfect. Plus, it comes in regular, tall, and petite lengths. One thing we saw while doing our research for this post is that for those of you who teach younger-age students and might be bending down, putting your hands above your head, etc…. wearing a pair of biker shorts under your dress is a great tip!

Look #1: In this look, you can wear the cropped cardigan over the dress. We paired it with beige mules for a classic spring look but you could swap them for another pair of the other shoes featured in this post too!

Look #2: For a more casual feel, style your spring dress with some white sneakers, a denim jacket, your favorite tote bag, and some gold jewelry. For your work wardrobe, we recommend having a few go-to everyday pieces that go with everything.

Look #3: For something a little more elevated, swap the denim jacket for a blazer and sneakers for heeled mules or shoes.

Look #4: The easiest way to style this dress? On its own! If it’s really hot where you live, you don’t have to wear a 3rd layer since this dress is modest and already has sleeves. We paired it with the trendy slingbacks, gold jewelry, and go-to tote.

#4) Light-Wash Jeans

Everyone needs a pair of great jeans for casual Fridays. We recommend finding a pair of jeans that are still elevated and not too casual…like these wide-leg jeans from J.Crew Factory! These jeans are the perfect light to medium wash for spring and don’t have any distressing. They are a cropped wide-leg silhouette with a high rise and just the right amount of stretch. They come in regular (30” inseam), tall (33” inseam), and petite (28” inseam). These jeans are so versatile you’ll wear them more than just on casual Fridays!

Look #1: The easiest way to style your jeans is with a white button-down shirt. This one has a little more of an oversized fit that’s great for every day. If you need extra warmth, throw on a cardigan for a casual feel. We styled them with loafers to offset the casual feel of the cardigan but you can grab whichever pair of go-to work shoes you love.

Look #2: Another option for casual Friday is to style your jeans with a tee and sneakers. Elevate it a little more by throwing on a moto jacket or blazer and you’re ready to go!

Look #3: In this look, we paired a pretty printed blouse with the jeans, loafers, and a blazer.

Look #4: This top has such a beautiful, neutral, subtle print. The more elevated top dresses up the jeans a bit more and throwing on the denim jacket and heels really takes the look up a notch!

#5) Wide-Leg Pants

You should have a few different pairs of pants in your wardrobe so you don’t feel like you’re wearing the same thing every day. I would start with the classic tan pants from the first four looks for spring, but having a few pairs of more fun, exciting pants will make getting dressed every day more fun! Your other work pants can be whatever feels like your personal style…printed or colorful pants, paper bag pants, wide-leg pants, pleated pants, etc. We chose a pair of dark green wide-leg pants from Everlane because they felt different but still very versatile. They come in six other great neutrals, have a flattering fit, and are super high-rise. They have a ~28” inseam so if you’re shorter than 5’3” and want to wear these with flats, you might have to get them hemmed.

Look #1: For this look, we went with a casual feel by styling the pants with the white ruffle sleeve top, a cardigan, and white sneakers.

Look #2: This look is still casual, but a little more elevated. The sweater top, pants, and denim jacket combo will look amazing and we love the trendy slingbacks with this look.

Look #3: Style the pants with the black sheer-sleeve blouse under a blazer for a classic look. Then throw on your favorite work shoes and you’re ready!

Look #4: We love the blue chambray top styled with these pants. Paired with the leather jacket, you get a fun, edgy look!
