(FOX40.COM) — Two people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries Thursday morning after crashing a car into the side of a middle school, the Sacramento Police Department said.

SPD said officers responded to reports of a vehicle colliding with Rosa Parks Middle School just after 7 a.m.

Officials with the Sacramento Fire Department said the car crashed into the side of the music room, but there were no students inside at the time of the collision.

The vehicle was beginning to catch on fire, which was quickly extinguished.

The woman driving the car was left with serious injuries, and the passenger, another woman, was left with minor injuries, SFD said.

According to police, both were taken to the hospital and are expected to be OK.

The building was left with minor damages.
