Winter boots are a must-have for any teenage girl who attends school in cold and snowy climates. We asked our Grown and Flown Parents community to tell us which brands their teens and college students love to wear.

Favorite boots for teens and college students

 1. L.L. Bean Duck Boot

LL Bean’s classic pair is equally popular with guys and girls. Sold in different heights and styles, some even with lining, these boots last a lifetime and sell out yearly. They are made in the USA (Maine, to be exact).

2. UGG Boots

They are so many different styles of UGG to choose from (and love!) that we couldn’t pick just one favorite. It is worth a look to see how many pairs are available in dozens of styles well beyond the caramel-colored fleece-lined boot where it all began. UGG has an all-weather line for students going to school in snowy climates. Here are two pairs that your teens want Mini Bailey Bow II Genuine Shearling Bootie and Classic Mini Platform Boot

3. Frye Boots

Frye began in Massachusetts in 1863 and makes the iconic boots girls love wearing with dresses and skirts. They have booties, shooties, combat, knee-high, western and uber-urban styles made of beautifully handcrafted leather for both girls and guys.

4. Hunter Matte Rain Boot

Hunter boots are exceptionally sturdy and keep feet dry when it’s rainy or snowy. These popular boots come in a wide array of colors and heights. Why not go for these short yellow ones just for fun or the tall navy ones that are classic and surprisingly stylish for rubber boots?

Wear them with a heavy Hunter boot sock for extra warmth. They are available at many retailers, including Zappos.

5. Sorel Women’s Boots

Sorel boots are some of our favorites and would be an especially good choice if your daughter attends school in a snowy, cold climate. This elevated Chelsea bootie is very on trend PLUS it is waterproof.

6. Sperry Top-Sider Rain Boot

From the makers of the iconic top-sider shoe comes the top-sider boot. This navy and tan pair are classic, with the non-marking rubber outsoles for traction.

7. Timberland Women’s Courmayeur Valley Chelsea Boot

We like this slip-on suede bootie in the neutral taupe color, a versatile alternative to black. Timberland makes great durable boots, and this one is surprisingly fashionable.

8. Columbia Women’s Minx MID II Omni-Heat Snow Boot

This boot will keep her feet warm and dry all winter long. Plus, we love the faux-fur lining and the quilted, waterproof exterior.

9. Dr. Marten’s Women’s 1460 8-Eye Patent Leather Boots

The original combat boots, Dr. Marten’s, are unlike any other — so iconic that they’ll never go out of style with teenage girls.

10. High Ankle Glove Boot

The most flattering boot — ever — with a just-right height, walkable heel. Perfect for all-day comfort and nights out. Plus, they are made from renewed plastic bottles (9 per pair, to be exact), so you and the planet can look your best. We love these from one of our favorite brands, Everlane. The colors available are toffee, green and black, but they sell quickly.

Where to shop for winter boots

Zappos

Zappos is a one-stop shop for boots with an unbelievably wide range of brands.

11. Blundstone Boots

Blundstone is also a famous brand that is practical for everyday wear.

Target has all the popular styles your daughter loves at fantastic pricing. Here are two of our favorite boots for teens from one of our favorite stores.

12. Platform Boots

These cute boots are so trendy and relatively inexpensive. They have a heel height of 1.5 inches, lacing at the front, with a side zip.

13. Fleece Boots

Nordstrom

Nordstrom has a fantastic shoe and boot selection with many sizes for harder-to-fit feet. They carry many brands in this post, and their website is a great place to look at dozens of different styles — booties, boots, fashion, and winter boots. Whether you are taking them to the register or putting them in your cart, here are four that caught our eye:

15. Over-the-knee boots

16. Chelsea Boots

This boot can take you anywhere, day or night.

17. Kitten heel slip on

These kitten-heel boots are gorgeous, and a knitted upper gives them a sock-like feeling.

18. Fluffy Faux Fur Over the Knee Boot

These are just fun and sell out quickly.
