A 17-year-old boy was arrested on Friday in connection with a block party shooting in Baltimore that left two dead and dozens more injured.

The teen has been hit with charges including possession of a firearm by a minor, assault weapon possession, reckless endangerment and carrying a handgun in a vehicle, according to a press release from the Baltimore Police Department. He was taken into custody by members of the Homicide and SWAT teams around 7 a.m., shortly after they obtained and executed a search warrant at a home in the city.

Authorities referred to the teen, who has not been identified, as a person of interest rather than a suspect. He has not yet been charged with murder. No further identifying information about the teenager has been released.

Detectives are still actively investigating the shooting, which occurred Sunday around 12:30 a.m. during “Brooklyn Day,” an annual summer celebration held in the Brooklyn Homes area in the southern corner of Baltimore. Interim Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley previously said investigators believe multiple people opened fire during the summer shindig.

“We don’t know exactly how many, but we do know more than one person was shooting,” Worley said.

A reward for up to $28,000 is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest and charges in the case.

Police identified the two people killed as Kylis Fagbemi, 20, and Aaliyah Gonzalez, 18, while another 28 people — including minors — were wounded.

The ages of those shot ranged from 13 to 32 years old and more than a dozen of the injured victims hurt were younger than 18, according to the Baltimore Police Department.

As of Friday, police said that three victims remain at hospitals in fair condition.
