There is no word on why the 16-year-old shot the other teenager but police say the two did know each other prior to the shooting.
WASHINGTON — A 16-year-old is facing charges in connection to a shooting that left another teen wounded Friday.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened near 13th and E Street, Southeast near Catharine Watkins Elementary School.
Officers were called to the area just before 9 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a teenage boy, who was shot in the lower body and taken to an area hospital. He is expected to survive.
Investigators say a 16-year-old shot the boy and then left in a car. He was arrested after turning himself in at the First District Police Station Monday.
The unidentified 16-year-old has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (gun).
There is no word on why the 16-year-old shot the other teenager but police say the two did know each other prior to the shooting.
