The Raleigh Police Department is investigating a now-fatal shooting that occurred at the corner of New Bern Avenue and N. Raleigh Boulevard Monday night.
According to police, at around 11:40 p.m., they responded to a shooting and found 53-year-old Michael Dickens with a gunshot wound. Police confirmed Friday morning that he died from his injuries.
Raleigh police also on Friday arrested a 16-year-old in connection to this shooting. The juvenile is being charged as an adult for murder. Police will not release the suspect’s name at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing. They did not provide details as to how they connected the 16-year-old to this shooting.
Police added that shortly after the initial 911 call, hospital staff said an additional victim from the same shooting arrived to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
RPD did not provide details as to the connection of both victims.
The WRAL Breaking News Tracker was there as officers and forensics investigated. Officers took photos of the markers, gas station and a silver sedan parked in the parking lot.
Crime scene tape surrounded the In and Out Mart convenient store and Shell gas station. There were at least eight evidence markers in the middle of N. Raleigh Boulevard in front of the gas station.
