(KRON) — Approximately 11,000 customers in San Francisco were without power Sunday night, according to PG&E. The outage occurred at 7:45 p.m.
According to PG&E’s outage map, the outage affects Golden Gate Park and residents in San Francisco’s Richmond District.
PG&E said electricity had to be shut off because of an urgent repair. The estimated time for power to be restored is around 1:15 a.m.
As of 10 p.m., the number of customers affected decreased to less than 5,000, according to the outage map.

“There is an unplanned power outage affecting parts of San Francisco, including Richmond, Presidio, and Golden Gate Park. Traffic lights in these areas may be impacted. If a traffic signal has gone dark, always treat it as a four-way stop,” the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management announced Sunday night.
The utility had already planned an outage beginning at 11 p.m. to switch its customers affected by last weekend’s Eighth Street and Mission Street substation fire from generators back to grid power, which was supposed to leave thousands without electricity for approximately one hour, the utility said.
KRON4 reached out to PG&E for comment about what caused the outage. We did not hear back in time for publication.
