It’s an indisputable fact that Anne Hathaway is one of the most talented and iconic actresses of our time. From comedies to animations to roles that have well and truly shattered our hearts, there’s nothing Ms. Hathaway can’t do. If we didn’t have self-control, this list would contain the entirety of her filmography, and trust us, it was hard to just pick 10. We meant it when we said she’s iconic. Whether you’re new to the Anne Hathaway cinematic universe or are a die-hard fan, here are 10 films we think you need to cross off your watch list!

The Devil Wears Prada

We just couldn’t resist kicking off with this film. As pop culture journalists, you know we love this film and its lead character Andy Sachs (even if she does make some questionable decisions – who doesn’t!) Looking to start a serious career in journalism, Andy becomes the assistant to Miranda Priestly, a very Anna Wintour-esque fashion editor-in-chief. As she tries to fit in and get ahead in the world of journalism, Andy starts to change but insists it’s only part of the job. We’ll see… As well as featuring Anne Hathaway, this film is full of stars. She’s joined by Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, to name a few famous faces. Add The Devil Wears Prada to your next movie night if you want a good and fashion-filled dramatic comedy!

Les Misérables

If you know Anne Hathaway well, you know that she’s a theatre kid at heart. It’ll be no surprise then that this is the first of several projects on this list that Anne sings in. Anne plays the character of Fantine in the 2012 film adaptation of the musical Les Misérables. This meant a lot to Anne as well because her mom Kate played an understudy for this character on the first-ever US tour of the show. It’s almost a family tradition! Even if Anne weren’t in it, we’d recommend watching this film to anyone. It’s powerful, emotive, and empowering. Just maybe have a box of tissues nearby because it’s a weepy one. She didn’t win that Best Supporting Actress Oscar for nothing!

Bride Wars

This one is a modern-day classic for chick flicks. Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson play lifelong BFFs who do everything together; they even get engaged around the same time. Through a little admin error, they end up with their dream wedding planner and dream venue, except their weddings will take place on the same day, at the same time. Shock, horror, cue the bridezillas, and let the chaos ensue. If you want something light-hearted and funny and enjoy a little bit of revenge, this is the film for you!

Becoming Jane

If you love period pieces with independent and driven women, here’s your evening viewing! Yearning, elegance, and the romantic story of one of the greatest female authors, this film has it all. The movie also features some crown jewels of British acting, including Dame Maggie Smith and Julie Walters. If you’re doing a movie marathon, we’d suggest watching this alongside Pride and Prejudice and Little Women.

Get Smart

When Get Smart dropped in 2008, it had us in absolute stitches, and it still holds up to this day. It’s a spy film spoof based on the original series of the same name. It features Anne and Steve Carell, who have to team up to stop an evil plot to take down their agency, Control. This internationally set comedy isn’t always the most PC, but it’s a lot of fun and is an on-the-nose commentary of the spy films we all know and love. Steve and Anne are a hilarious duo who are supported by an amazing cast, including Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Alan Arkin.

Hoodwinked!

We are crazy, but we are free. We will proudly say that we think this film doesn’t get the credit it’s due. Hoodwinked tells the age-old story of Red Riding Hood but with a twist. With a whodunit investigation, secret identities, and a singing mountain goat, what more could you want? It might not be the high-quality animation we’re used to with modern productions, but it’s a wholesome, fun watch for the whole family! We will defend it with our lives; in this house, we stan Hoodwinked!

The Intern

The Intern was a box office success. 70-year-old Ben Whittaker, played by the film giant that is Robert De Niro, is unhappy in his retirement and so becomes an intern at Jules Ostin’s (Anne Hathaway) online fashion retail company. After a rocky start, the two become unlikely friends and form a very special and touching relationship. This film made us laugh hysterically and, at times, made us weep. If your heart needs a little warmth right now, give The Intern a try.

Interstellar

Directed by Christopher Nolan with a little Hans Zimmer magic on the soundtrack, Interstellar is an academy award-winning hit that everyone should see. It’s a sci-fi film that depicts a journey across the galaxy in order to save humanity after food shortages threaten our existence. Not only are there some of cinema’s biggest names involved, but the 2014 film also features some breakout roles from stars at the forefront of today’s conversations, such as Timothée Chalamet and Mackenzie Foy. A little different from some of the films on this list, Interstellar is a must-see for sci-fi fans.

Colossal

Do you want some weird? We’ve got some weird. In this black comedy, Anne Hathaway plays a struggling writer who is suffering from the effects of being an alcoholic. While that aspect of the film is dealt with beautifully while not glamorizing substance abuse, there’s also a more whacky element. Anne Hathaway’s character Gloria believes she is connected to and is unwillingly controlling a giant monster that is terrorizing Seoul and its residents. With supporting roles from Jason Sudeikis and Austin Stowell, this film is an underrated gem in Anne Hathaway’s back catalog. Why don’t you give it a go?

The Princess Diaries

You didn’t think we’d list our favorite Anne Hathaway films and not include her iconic breakout performance, did you? At 15, Mia Thermopolis discovers after the death of her father that she is a princess of a country called Genovia. Shut up! The film depicts Mia’s journey through denial, acceptance, and the challenges that come with going from a high school wallflower to, well, a princess. We love this classic as well as its sequel, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. We’ve heard flutterings there’s a third film in the works, but right now, it only exists in our dreams. Anne Hathaway, if you’re reading this, we’re ready for more Genovia!
