SACRAMENTO, Calif. — One person was killed, and three others were injured in a car crash in South Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported to CHP a little before 1:15 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Franklin Boulevard and 47th Avenue.
Officials said the crash happened when a grey Nissan failed to stop at a red light and was hit by a silver Nissan. The grey car then continued into a parking lot before hitting a fence.
Officials say the driver of the grey Nissan, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in that car was also taken to the hospital with major injuries.
Two passengers in the silver Nissan also suffered major injuries and were taken to the hospital.
CHP said alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, as an investigation is underway.
