A house explosion in Maryland’s Mid-Eastern Shore left one person dead, with five others escaping. Investigators suspect a gas-related cause.
KENT COUNTY, Md. — One person was killed in a house explosion in Maryland’s Mid-Eastern Shore region on Saturday evening.
According to state fire marshals, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene of the explosion around 6 p.m.
When they arrived at the 6900 block of Pentridge Lane, they determined that five people were able to escape.
Investigators believe the explosion and subsequent fire were gas related.
Officials said they were engaged in an “extended operation” and would provide updates along the way.
